The Mustangs could not stop Carleton College's Zach Johnson from scoring a game-high 29 points as Carleton upended WNMU, 80-70, in Honolulu Friday night. The Mustangs have now lost two straight on the islands. They look to finish the trip on a high note on Saturday when they take on Hawaii Pacific University at 10:30 p.m. MST.

Steve Barrelleza (Phoenix, AZ) paced four Mustangs (2-3) with 14 points and eight rebounds. JJ Galberth (El Paso, TX/Parkland High School) (El Paso, TX) and DJ Nicholas (Glendale, AZ/Glendale High School) (Glendale, AZ) added 13 points apiece, and Devin Stewart (Tucson, AZ/Santa Rita High School) (Tucson, AZ) nearly tallied a triple double, notching 12 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds.

The Knights (2-0) trailed by as many as 13 points as WNMU scored 11 of the game's first 13 points and stretched the lead to 19-6. Carleton, though, whittled away the lead and closed the period by scoring the final seven points, capped a Carleton triple from the top of the key at the horn to leave the Knights trailing 29-28 at the break.

The start of the second half was more of the same, as the Knights opened with three pointers. The Mustangs took their final lead of the game on Galberth's lay-up at the 15-minute mark, but the Knights knocked home a pair of threes during a run where the Knight advantage grew to nine points.

The Mustangs pulled within two points on Eli Crevelone (Tucson, AZ/Canyon Del Oro High School)'s (Tucson, AZ) put-back, but Carleton pushed lead back to 10. WNMU tried to rally, but a breakaway jam and a blocked WNMU three-point attempt at the other end with less than two minutes left, sealing the win for the Knights.

The Knights held the Mustangs, who had come into the game shooting better than 50 percent from the floor, to 35.5 percent, including a 5-for-26 performance from three-point range. The Knights, meanwhile, shot 47 percent, and 54 percent after halftime.
